Otus

Otus is a innovative new mobile learning system for the iPad.  This is an excellent free easy to use tool that educators around the world are using to seamlessly integrate technology into their classroom.  W/ the free iPad app educators can track assignments, assess students, poll, browse the web, take attendance, and more.  It is a complete all-in-one solution for the mobile learning environment.  Educators can even "flip" a lesson for at home instructions.  Also, the simple to use split-screen allows students to take notes while working on assignments.

Answerables


Be sure to check out the latest updates!!!

Answerables is one of the most unique sites to come around in awhile.  It is a cross between a Learning Management System and Game Based Learning environment to deliver a innovative and fun learning experience for students.  All of this takes place in a 3D virtual world (i.e. think Second Life but geared towards education) that allows educators to create lessons, scavenger hunts, collaborate w/ other educators, and much much more.  Best of all, all of this takes place in Answerables safe interactive environment.  Also, Answerables can be used by any curriculum to teach any subject using Project Based Learning, "gamifying"a lesson, and differentiating instruction.

Choosito is a new search engine for education that I found out about from Technology & Learning.  This is a great way to search the web in a safe way as well as library resources.  Best of all, all search results display a reading level which makes it similar to Nettrekker and ideal for education.

Yogome the company responsible for making wonderful educational mobile games has just released and educational web portal kids.  This site is ideal for parents and teachers looking to help improve students performance in a wide range of subjects (i.e. Math, Science, etc.).  Yogome is a personalized learning experience for each individual that is COPPA compliant and aligned to Common Core Standards.  Best of all, educators/aprents can track student behavior and generate detailed reports.

Learnteria

Learnteria is a new site for finding educational resources, reviews, sites, and more, that I just found out about from Tech Learning's blog.  This is a great place for educators to rate and review resources as well as find a wide variety on resources such as: STEM, sites, books, etc.

Biteslide

Biteslide is easily one of my favorite Web 2.0 sites for creating dynamic presentations (known as slide books) in a safe environment.  Biteslide is a fantastic site for creating presentations that can contain all types of media, such as: video, images, text, links and more.  Once a presentation is completed it can then be downloaded, printed out, or best of all embedded into another site/blog.  This is an ideal site to engage students, use for any subject, and great for educators as no student email is required (teachers create the student accounts).  Also, Biteslide can easily be used to Flip a Classroom or for Project Based Learning!!

Finally, Biteslide has recently released "project kits" which are digital lessons aligned to Common Core Standards.  These kits focus on a wide range of subjects w/ more to come.

NameCoach

NameCoach is a wonderful web service that educators are using to learn student's names and pronounce them correctly.  This is especially useful w/ commencement/graduation ceremonies on the horizon.  The way this works is simple as a teacher creates a name/web page and then has the student's speak their names.  The audio gets embedded into a page and a user can access them all on one page at anytime.  Also, NameCoach makes it very easy to share recordings and keep track of student's name/email.  It's easy, accurate, and 100% safe for schools to use.

Prodigy

Prodigy is a fantastic free online Math game that is ideal for Game Based Learning.  This super fun highly engaging game designed for grades 1st-6th and is aligned to Common Core Standards.  Best of all is the teacher portal which allows for educators to assess students and get instant real-time reporting.  Prodigy, even has a unique learning engine which allows the game to differentiate instruction and help students w/ areas they are struggling in.  Teachers can modify the game to suit their needs and select which skills their students need to focus on too.  Also, Prodigy is browser based and works on any device (i.e iPad or Chromebook).

Matific

Matific is a fantastic site/mobile app (iOS/Android) for Math grades K-6.  The free mobile app has a wide variety of educational games/activities for El Ed aligned to Common Core Standards.  While the site has tons of educational resources such as: worksheets, activities, videos, and more.  Best of all is the educational portal which allows educators to track student progress and differentiate instruction.

Trending Words from WordWriter

Trending Words is the latest feature from the free vocabulary tool, WordWriter.  This is an excellent way for educators to create vocabulary lists/assignments from crowdsourced terms from other teachers WordWriter activities.  Trending Words displays the most popular vocabulary words being taught for that month, in real-time, on a grade-by-grade basis.

Dinosaster

Dinosaster is a fun little game from CultureStreet that I just found out about from Free Technology 4 Teachers.  Dinosaster follows the typical jumping platform game where a T-Rex moves around jumping on dinosaurs and trying to eat meat (think Bonk).  Along the way a player will collect different facts/cards on each dinosaur and find out why they became extinct.  It's a fun game tha
t my kids should love as my 9 yr old has been fascinated w/ dinosaurs his whole life, and my 3 yr old is learning about dinosaurs in preschool :-)

Class Compete

Class Compete is a fantastic Game Base Learning and Assessment system that educators are using to help boost student's test scores and eliminate test anxiety.  Class Compete works on any mobile device (iOS, Android, etc.) and follows the familiar "running/racing" game formula.  Students will answer questions from any subject as they race against opponents to try an win.  Educators can even create their own content and best of all assess student progress through detailed reports.  This makes it easy to differentiate instruction and even works for Blended Learning or the "Flipped" classroom model.  Finally, there is even a parent portal where parents can track their child's pro
gress and engage in their learning.

Galxyz

Galxyz is a wonderful new (private beta) iPad app that is ideal for the El Ed Science curriculum.  Galxyz is a innovative game that takes students on a educational adventure that has them mastering scientific subjects such as: Matter, Energy, Ecosystems and more.  Students will develop concepts such as scientific reasoning, scientific method, and even conduct experiments while having fun.  Best of all, Galxyz is COPPA compliant, is aligned to Common Core standards, and has lots of assessing features for teachers and parents.

Versal

Versal is a site that has been around for a long time that is ideal for online learning and creating online courses/assignments.  This is a great way to create interactive lessons that educators can use to track/assess students through a paid subscription.

Buncee Updates

Recently, Buncee released some updates for their Buncee Pro and Buncee for Edu iPad apps.  Buncee now has the ability to print right to Walgreens.  After pressing the share button a user can Print their scrapbooks or presentations right to Walgreens.  For more info click here.

Also, a user can now add a voice recording to any sticker to bring their digital storytelling presentation to the next level!!!  Finally, Buncee is an excellent tool to use in the classroom for those looking for St. Patrick's Day ideas.

ClassDojo

ClassDojo is one of the most popular free "web 2.0" sites on the web for educators.  This fantastically simple site to use has teachers all over the world integrating ClassDojo into their classroom to help track and manage student behavior.  This is done through a very fun and simple user interface that has educators add a point (for positive or negative behavior) to reinforce appropriate behavior.  Also, CD allows educators to generate detailed classroom reports and share them w/ others (educators/parents) via email.  Finally, ClassDojo has one of the best resource sharing pages I've seen that allows educators to find out how others are using CD in their class, and print out resources too.

SpellingCity

SpellingCity simply put is the best site around for all Vocabulary and Spelling needs.  It even has an educational portal that allows for student tracking and educators to add assignments/word lists to their students.  Also, there is a free mobile (iOS, Android, Kindle) that interacts w/ the web portal to allow mobile learning for students.  SC also has a wide variety of resources and videos, but allows teachers to create their own customized word lists and integrate them into educational games for their students.

GoClass the wonderful educational tool for mobile learning and flipping a classroom has just had a major redesign.  This new sleeker look makes it easy to conduct lessons via any device and track student progress.  These new icons and drop downs is very user friendly, as well as the ability to generate detailed reports to help differentiate instruction.

NumberShire

NumberShire is an excellent Web based/iOS app game for grades K-2nd learning Math.  NumberShire takes place in a fun animated Renaissance-style period where student play through mini games and complete quests to earn rewards and learn different concepts of Math.  The class version tracks student data and the game is aligned to Common Core Standards.

30hands Pro is the new paid iOS app from 30hands Learning.  This is a great purchase as it unlocks all the features in the free 30hands app such as: importing video clips, Dropbox/Google Drive integration, and Hi-Res video exporting.

30hands is the amazingly simple to use app w/ drag-n-drop interface that allows users to sync up 30hand online educational community.
photos w/ audio recordings to create stunning presentations.  This can be used for digital storytelling, Project Based Learning, or even to "Flip" a lesson.  Also, the exporting features allows the video to be saved to the mobile device's camera roll or uploaded to the free

Make It

Make It is a great iOS app for teachers that currently is free.  This multifunctional app allows educators or students to create a wide variety of activities such as: games, stories, slideshows, and much much more.  A user can upload their own content or use the one that come w/ the app (i.e. slide templates, images, sounds, etc.)  Designed for Grades K-2nd, Make It comes w/ interactive menus, drawing tools, the ability to create quizzes, and more to allows for endless possibilities.

DimensionU Spring Spectacular

Registration is now open for DimensionU's latest virtual Math competition.  This is a 5 week, multiplayer video game competition that uses DimentionU's innovative 3D games.  The competition starts March 23rd, and consists of four weekly qualifying rounds, where the top 5 gamers from each week move on to the finals.  The registration fee is $9.95 and there are lots of prizes for weekly winners and four grand prize winners.

EDpuzzle

SeeSaw

Seesaw is a fantastic free iOS app that students can use to create digital portfolios or journals.  These journals can contain anything from audio to video, photos, and even drawn upon.  Best of all, are the teacher tools that allows educators to create class lists and manage and track all students.  Finally, there are a ton of great resources for educators, such as lesson plans, printouts, QR codes for singing up (or class code), parent notifications, and more.
