SpellingCity

SpellingCity w/out a doubt is my favorite site for Spelling and Vocabulary.  This is a great site w/ educational portal that allows educators to create word lists that can be incorporated into educational games.  These games are not only fun but highly engaging and help students learn their "words".  Also, an educator can track students, find an abundance of resources/videos, and even use it for mobile learning w/ a free mobile app  (iOS/Android).

Visme

Visme is a wonderful new (beta) site for creating beautiful looking interactive presentations, animations, infographics and more.  This is a simple to use drag-n-drop site that educators can use in a wide variety of ways (i.e. announcements, project based learning, etc.).  Best of all, a user has complete control over their content and has a wide range of controls from privacy setting, sharing (embedding), and more.

Teaching Channel

Teaching Channel is a great site to see teachers "in action".  This is a great way to learn effective teaching techniques and strategies while being inspiring as well.  A teacher can join their online community to share and collaborate w/ other educators and share lesson plans as well, and even annotate on digital videos.

Teach'n Go is a new site for managing online courses for educators.  This is a nice way to create a course, charge what they want, schedule, and communicate w/ parents and students in a safe collaborative environment.  Also, Teach'n Go is web based and works on any browser based device making it ideal for mobile learning.

Help Teaching

Help Teaching is an excellent site for educators, parents, and others looking for educational resources such as quiz/test creators, online assessments, or worksheets/printables.  These printables are for K-12 and cover a wide range of subjects.  Also, there is a test/virtual room where students can take online assessment and get results in real time.

Biteslide

Biteslide is a wonderful site that I've covered many times before that allows users to create beautiful slidebooks/presentations w/ simple to use drag-n-drop tools.  Best of all, it is all done through an educational portal that allows educators to create and manage student account.  Educators are using Biteslide for project based learning, flip a lesson, and more.

Story Monster

Story Monster is a fun site for digital storytelling that I just found out about from the great blogger, The Book Chook.  Story Monster is a fun site where a student can create a monster from scratch and then create a digital story.  However, there is a twist that in Story Monster a student plays a game by having their monster fly around and chomp on different parts of a sentence to form their story (i.e. noun, verb, adjective, etc.).

Wizer

Wizer is an interesting new site for creating blended digital worksheets that I just found out about from Richard Byrne's award winning blog.  Wizer lets educators create digital worksheets from scratch by through either a fill in the blank style or by labeling a object.  A very nice feature is that a teacher can browse through a wide collection of worksheets already create it and then customize it for their own purpose.  Finally, a finished worksheet can then be shared through Google Classroom or through a unique generated URL and code.

Jump!

Jump! is the new educational Math game by Artgig Studio (Mystery Math Town) for adding and counting numbers.  The way this work is a player jumps across platforms of numbers going in whatever sequential order the level provides (i.e. one, four, twelve, etc) while rescuing Snortles and squishing numbers to get to the other side.

Projector Screen

ProjectorScreen.com is an excellent site for people or educators to find projectors and other type of equipment for their classrooms.  Not only can a person search through an immense amount of screens, but from other categories such as fixed or manual, multimedia carts, boards, chairs, and more.

Sketch Nation

Sketch Nation is a wonderful free app (iOS/Android) and website for creating games.  Sketch Nation reminds me of Pixel Press Floors but w/out the paper.  All a student has to do is select their category of game (i.e. platform, jumping, etc) then draw their backgrounds/characters/items and let Sketch Nation do the rest.  The advanced level editor will help students create more complex games and work on their STEM skills.  Sketch Nation even has a nice section for education w/ a collection of games created by students.

AR Flashcards Addition

AR Flashcards Addition is the new innovative way for students to work on their addition skills on their mobile iOS devices.  The way this works is a user goes to the AR Flashcard website prints out the free flashcard, and then points their iOS device at the card to render beautiful 3D numbers and animals to form an equation.  A student can then solve the equation w/in the app and even take timed quizzes.

Monster Math 2

Monster Math 2 is the excellent new iOS game by Makkaji.  Like the first game, this game is designed for grades K-5 and is aligned to Common Core Standards.  It follows the familiar platform style game play where students solve Math equations (i.e. subtraction, addition, etc) while defeating monsters and unlocking 4 different magical lands.  Also, Monster Math tracks students progress, generates detailed reports, and allows users to choose which areas they want to focus on.

Brainscape

Brainscape is an excellent free iOS app/site for flashcards.  Brainscape's innovative "smart" flashcards works in timed intervals that a user rates on a scale of 1 to 5.  Brainscape then used an adaptive learning algorithm to differentiate instruction and display the flashcards that need more focus on.  This is a great way to learn difficult subjects and break down difficult concepts.

Math Snacks

Math Snacks is an excellent site for educational games, animations, and more, for Math grades 3rd-7th.  This is a great learning tool to use w/ any Math curriculum and can help teachers differentiate instruction.  Also, this is a nice way to introduce Game Based Learning into the classroom.  Best of all are the abundance of teacher resources such as: lesson plans, teacher guides, etc etc, and all resources are aligned to Common Core Standards and available in Spanish.

Buncee for Valentine's Day

Buncee is one of my all-time favorite easy-to-use Web 2.0 sites/apps for education.  This site w/ educational portal allows a user to create anything they can think of on a digital canvas (i.e. presentation, eCard, greeting, story, and more).  These beautiful looking projects can contain any type of media, from video, audio, text, clip art, etc, and can be embedded into a site or blog.  Finally, educational portal allows educators to manage/track student accounts, and even comment on them in a safe environment.  Teachers are using Buncee for Project Based Learning, to "flip" a lesson, for digital storytelling, and much much more.

Level it Books

Level it Books is the excellent mobile app (iOS/Android) that people everywhere are using to scan a book and get a Reading/Lexile Level.  Educators are using it to create a digital library of class books, as well as creating a class roster of students w/ their Read Level.  Also, a user can add a book, select a "book of the day", and manually search for any book as well.  If you're a parent, librarian, or educator this is the perfect app for you to find the appropriate type of reading material for your student/child.
