Historic Map Works

Historic Map Works is an interesting site that shows a giant collection of historical maps through Google Maps.  These maps can be searched by continent, states, and other various criteria.  I find this to be a very interesting site and a great asset for History/Geography teachers.

I highly recommend checking out Historic Map Works by clicking here!!

Share My Map

Share My Map is a fun new (beta) site that I learned about from Larry Ferlazzo's wonderful blog. This is a place where a user creates a "community" of a map and then has others collaborate on it. It's a cross between Google Maps and Wikipedia in the way that it works.

I recommend checking out Share My Map by clicking here.

History Pin

History Pin is a cool new site which allows users to "pin" locations in Google St. View. Once a location is pinned a user can add their own story. This is a very nice visual site to use which incorporates a fun time line aspect as well.

Give History Pin a try by clicking here.

Thanks to Free Technology 4 Teachers for the tip!!

The Full Wiki

The Full Wiki is a mash-up of Wikipedia & Google Maps. I find this to be a very useful site when trying to find the origin of items/terms. However, when there is not enough data to have a map representation, FW still will display other relevant data such as video/audio/text etc.

Give The Full Wiki a try by clicking here.

Below is a search on the term Thor...
