Buncee for the Holidays

 

Buncee one of my all time favorite web 2.0 sites for classrooms, has just released a bunch of lessons/templates/ideas for how to use Buncee for the holidays.  This is a great easy-to-use learning tool for creating beautiful looking presentations, stories, posters, eCards, and more.  Finally, educators are using this to "flip" their classroom, for project based learning, digital storytelling, finding ideas (Ideas Lab) and much much more.

 Educators Corner is one of my new favorite places to find educational resources such as: links, videos, and ideas for using STEM in technology.  This is all done by two of my favorite educators Brad Waid and Michelle Moore.  These videos vary in length and are fun and easy watch where they cover topics such as: augmented reality, STEM activities, and more.

SplashLearn

SplashLearn is a wonderful, super easy-to-use, free all-in-one online Math platform for grades K-5.  SplashLearn is an ideal learning tool to use for teachers and parents because of the educational portal.  This portal/dashboard allows educators/parents to create and manage student accounts, track/manage progress, generate detailed reports that can emailed, and even set daily schedules.  Being online, SplashLearn is ideal for Remote/Distance Learning and uses Game Based Learning to help students learn and reinforce their basic Math skills, such as: addition, multiplication, and more.  Also, SplashLearn has lots of different features where students can play or practice a specific skill or follow a "set" learning path where students complete games and levels collecting coins and gaining stars (similar to mobile games) on how well they completed the skill.

Finally, SplashLearn makes it easy for educators to assess students and differentiate instruction.  Students can even use SplashLearn for Self Paced Learn, making it a great way for students to strengthen their Math skills.

TypeTastic for Remote Learning

  


*A great way for students to practice their keyboarding/typing skills while school is doing Remote Learning.

TypeTastic is an excellent K-12 site for students learning how to Type/Keyboard.  TypeTastic's School Edition has an educational portal that allows educators to track, monitor, and assess student progress.  This is a fun and great way to integrate technology into a classroom's curriculum.  TypeTastic uses over 400 innovative games, activities and drills to help teach and reinforce keyboarding/typing skills.

The expanded curriculum introduces students to more than 250 entertaining new keyboarding activities that move from locating letters to fluent typing in four fun steps:
  1. Explore the Keyboard: Unique keyboard visualization splits the letters into nine color-coded groups so students see the keyboard like a map and can quickly find the correct letters. 
  1. All Fingers Aboard: These games are designed to challenge kids to learn the fundamentals of typing. All sections are centered on finger movement, often first separated into either right- or left-hand activities, followed by more challenging games that use both hands.
  1. Ready, Set, Type!: Keyboarding activities take kids on an adventure through underwater coral reefs, thick jungle vegetation, and serene beach vistas to collect words and letters, with the goal of typing simple words and sentences.

ThatQuiz

 ThatQuiz is a nice simple site for creating quizzes.  A teacher can create an account and share a code for students to take.  Also, these quizzes can include images, graphs, and more.  Finally, these quizzes can be fill in the blank or choose the right answer, tracks right or wrong and answers, and has a built-in timer.

Mobile Permissions Virtual Field Trips

Mobile Permissions is the excellent free site the educators are using to easily send "digital" permission slips for FREE.  Recently, they launched a new feature which lets educators send permission slips "on demand" which is ideal for when teachers need immediate permission of a parent/guardian and don't have time to wait for a form to be returned.  Also, this is a perfect tool to use w/ Remote Learning due to the closures of school from the worldwide pandemic.

Finally, Mobile Permissions has been hard at work creating Virtual Field trips.  These field trips can be an asset to any educator for students required to do Distance Learning at home.  These field trips are easy to use as they incorporate "guided tours" of different museums and cities around the world.  These "guided tours" come w/ a packet of questions/answers for teachers to use w/ their students when taking their virtual tour.

Blooket

Blooket is an excellent new site that uses Game Based Learning to help students learn their subjects.  Blooket is very easy to use and provides teachers w/ an educational portal that allows them to track and monitor student progress while generating detailed reports.  Also, educators can create their own educational games or join an existing one (i.e. racing, battle royale, etc.)  Best of all, students join all games by a unique generated code meaning they don't need a student email account.

Microsoft Math

 

Microsoft Math is an excellent free mobile (iOS/Google Play) app for all things Math grades K-12.  All a user had to do is scan, type, or draw a math problem to get a answer and other results.  Also, Microsoft Math generates detail step-by-step instructions on how to solve the problem, videos, graphs, and more.  Finally, Microsoft Math lets teachers create printable Math worksheets for their students to use.

Otus

  

Otus is an ideal tool for Remote Learning w/ schools being closed.  Their learning platform makes it easy for educators to build dynamic engaging lessons, deliver instruction, and then assess student learning.

Verse by Verse

Verse by Verse is an excellent site for creating poetry that I just found out about from Larry Ferlazzo's blog.  The way this works is a student selects a famous Poet and then types the first line and Verse by Verse's AI generates ideas for writing the next line.

Socrates for Remote Learning

 Many schools are now realizing they do not have the tools in place so kids can continue to learn while schools are closed.  Socrates personalized learning for the students so they are progressing automatically, and provides teachers with tools to monitor progress and assign topics.  Teachers can control the learning remotely or just allow Socrates to adjust automatically - making it a perfect tool for teachers with closed classrooms.

Rabbids Coding






Rabbids Coding is a super-fun iOS app that uses the popular Rabbids characters to teach kids the basics of how to program/code (ideal for 7yrs old on up).  This is done by uses lines of code where students use sequential and computational thinking to help save "their" spaceship that the Rabbits had invaded.

Bibcitation

Bibcitation is a excellent site for easily citing any type of source on the internet (i.e. webpage, books, journal, etc.).  All a user has to do is copy/paste a URL or enter a title and Bibcitation takes care of the rest.  Finally, once a user has collected all of their results they can export them into an html or txt file.

 Charttt is a wonderful site for easily creating online charts, graphs, and more, and embedded them onto a site, blog, etc.  This makes it easy for students or teachers to share their charts as well as abide by CIPA/COPPA compliance.  Best of all, there are 9 different styles of charts to choose from such as: pie, bar, line, bubble, and more.

TeachVid for Remote Learning

 

TeachVid is an amazing online tool for learning foreign languages.  TeachVid reminds me a tad like EDpuzzle where educators use interactive videos to assess student's learning.  Also, educators can create a "virtual" classroom and create assignments that contain: videos, worksheets, etc.  Finally, TeachVid makes it easy to flip a classroom or lesson and let student's learn at their own pace.
