Flocabulary

Flocabulary is a fun Web 2.0 site for education that I've mentioned a few times on my blog.  This is a great site for introducing or reviewing a subject/concept.  The way this works is through innovative animated videos (or as Flocabulary puts it "Educational Hip-Hop"), that helps students learn through visual and auditory means.  Also, Flocabulary has over 700 videos, interactive activities, and online assessments.

Also, there are some great features that make Flocabulary perfect for the classroom.  For example, the lyrics of each song are displayed below the video and are interactive filled w/ words that are hot-linked to explore in more detail.  The lyrics can also be downloaded or printed out.  Best of all, are the lessons that are included w/ each video to help students reinforce their learning on each topic.

I highly recommend checking out Flocabulary by clicking here!!!

Timelinely

Timelinely is a new (beta) site for editing YouTube videos that I found out about from Larry Ferlazzo's blog.  Timelinely easily lets users take a YouTube video and add comments, images, annotations and more.  This is a great way to personalize a video and can even be used for digital storytelling.

I highly recommend checking out Timelinely by clicking here!!!

Due Date feature...

A while back EDpuzzle updated their fantastic site/app to integrate a "due date' by assigning it via drop down calendar to a video.  This helps students and educators organize their videos/lessons and see not only how far along an assignment is completed but when it is due as well.  An unfinished assignment can even be archived by the user.  I like how teachers can create their assignments before hand and assign it a "due date' to get a nice visual of what they class will be working on in the weeks ahead.

Recap

Recap is an excellent new (beta) site/app that educators are using for students to reflect on their learning through video.  The way this works is a teacher assigns a question to a student group of students, the students record their thoughts using Recap/video, and then student's results can be shared to other educators, parents, class, etc.  This is a great way for educators to assess students and differentiate instruction while helping students reflect on their own learning.  Also, students can use Recap to create digital portfolios so they can asses their own learning needs.

EDpuzzle App

EDpuzzle the premiere site for flipping a lesson through video has just released a free iOS app.  As w/ the site this app allows users to take a video and easily "make it their own" by editing, cropping, adding narration and questions to flip a lesson or classroom.  Students can then view the video on their mobile device, answer the questions, and gauge their learning.  This is also a great way for educators to assess student's learning and differentiate instruction.

Comment Bubble

Comment Bubble is a neat little site that I just found out about from Ozge Karaoglu on Technology & Learning.  The way this works is a user uploads a video and then selects what kind of feedback/comments they want to allow.  Once this is done a person can then leave text, audio, or even video comments to any video.  This is a great way to carry on a discussion about a video, as well as generate interactive graphs.  Finally, a teacher can use this to flip their classroom/lesson to assess how well a student understands their topic.

Zaption

Zaption is a excellent learning tool that can be used by educators for Blended or Flipped Learning, as well as for Project Based Learning.  It allows a user to take a video and edit it by cropping and adding learning elements such as questions to create a "learning tour".  Best of all, educators can then track and assess student learning by tracking how they are doing.  Also, a "learning tour" can be shared via email or embedded into a site or blog.  Finally, a user can browse through any public Zaption and customize it to meet their own needs.

EDpuzzle Folders

EDpuzzle the fantastically simple tool to turn any video into a lesson has just launched a new "folder" feature that makes it easy for educators/students to organize and curate their videos/lessons.  All a user has to do is login, create a folder, and then select the videos they want to add.  Also, a user can move a folder into a folder to make things even easier (I wish the iPad would let u do that).

For those not familiar w/ EDpuzzle it is a great learning tool that educators around the world are using to edit, crop, and add narration to a video to create flipped lessons or flip a classroom.  Also, they are using it to track/manage student progress, assess in real-time, and much much more.

I highly recommend checking out EDpuzzle by clicking here!!!
