Whiteboard.fi

Whiteboard.fi is an innovative new interactive online whiteboard where educators can create a class and have students sign up via a unique code.  Once the students are signed in, a teacher can then draw on a whiteboard to ask questions.  Students can then respond in real-time on any device while teachers see their responses.  This is a great way to assess students and differentiate instruction in a easy way.

Below is a brief demo...

Scrawlar

Scrawlar is a new web tool that I just found out about from Larry Ferlazzo's excellent blog.  This is an excellent site that acts as a virtual whiteboard/word processors for schools.  It's a free collaborative tools that is ideal for education that it requires no student email for access, only a class code where a teacher creates an account.  Best of all, Scrawlar can be used on any device and allows students to collaborate on projects/word documents.

Trello

Trello is an excellent site for organizing and collaborating on projects w/ others.  This is done through the use of on online board (similar to a whiteboard) that is filled up w/ tasks.  These tasks are arranged in cards and can be used in real-time w/ others.  These cards can have multimedia content such as audio and video embedded into the card.  This is ideal for working on projects and having others see view/collaborating.  Everything is backed up and stored online and very easy to use.

Sneffel

Sneffel is a free site for creating a real-time collaborative whiteboard. This site reminds me a lot of Concept Board or Board 800 where a user creates an online whiteboard and then invites others via a unique URL. Another nice feature is the ability to embed the board into a site/blog.

View the brief demo below...

FYI, the site is no longer being supported by the developer so tech support would be hard to come by if at all.

Concept Board

Concept Board is a site I just found out about from Free Technology 4 Teachers. This is an excellent site for creating an online whiteboard where users can collaborate w/ others and brainstorm ideas on any number of things. Users can upload images, documents, etc and then draw/interact w/ it as they would on any other whiteboard. Some other nice features is the ability to take a screen shot, attach files, comment, and even work right from an iPad.
