Twitter Sheep

Twitter Sheep is a fun site for Twitter users. The way this works is a user enters their user name in the Twitter Sheep text box and then watch as a word cloud gets generated from the bios of their followers. By looking at a person's "flock" one can get a general idea of what a person is all about.

Below is an example from my user name...

Time Maps

Time Maps is a wonderful site that I just found out about from Richard Byrne's excellent blog, Free Technology 4 Teachers. This is a great site for history teachers/students and is a cross between a time line, enyclopedia, atlas, and tag cloud.

Below is a pic from the interactive map based on Europe....

WordItOut

WordItOut is a site similar to Wordle for creating word clouds. I first heard about this great site from Zarco English one of the great resource sharing blogs out there. What makes WIO so great is how easy it is to use. All a person has to do is paste text in and click create. Also, the user has the ability to tweak their settings and even embed their cloud into their site.

Search Cloud

Search Cloud is another new (beta) search engine, that uses a "tag cloud" interface to calculate your preferences. The way this works is quite simple, type in your query in the search bar, then either hit return (via a pre-determined search engine-which you change), or click on any one of the engines in the "cloud".

What makes SC so great, is that the more you use a Search Engine, say Google, the bigger it gets in the "cloud". The less you use search engine, the smaller it gets in the "cloud". Also, you can customize your cloud all you want, so you only see specific search engines, or even add your own!!

Give it a try by clicking here.

Word Sift

Word Sift is a site I first learned about from Jennifer Dorman's amazing blog. It is a site where visualizing text takes place, similar to Wordle.

WS is super easy to use. Just enter your text (copy/paste works great for long passages-up to 3 meg) and then click on sift. The words then scramble into a tag cloud emphasizing important words.

Also, after creating a visualization, Word Sift generates images that best represents your data.
