MonkeyLearn

MonkeyLearn is an excellent site for creating a word cloud that reminds me a lot of Wordle.  All a user has to do is copy/paste in some text and hit generate word cloud.  That's it, MonkeyLearn generates the cloud and even analyzes the text for keywords and sentiment analysis.

I highly recommend checking out MonkeyLearn by clicking here!!

WordWanderer

WordWanderer is a site I just found about from Larry Ferlazzo's great blog for making word clouds.  This is a neat way to create a word cloud where you can edit what types of words you want to see or hide, such as: nouns, verbs, prepositions, etc etc.  Also, a user can click on a word to see a definition or how it is used in context or drag-a-line between to words to see how they are related.

Answer Garden

Answer Garden is an excellent new tool for a person's website. AG is a gadget that can be embedded into a site (similar to a poll) that people can use to answer question that you create. These answers then get displayed in a visual brainstorming/tag cloud view w/ the top choices standing out as more bold and bigger font (think Wordle).

Answer Garden can be used by teachers to get feedback from students, bloggers for self analysis, etc etc.

Word Cloud Generator

Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo's blog, I found out about a new animated Word Cloud generator.  What I like about it, is that the site supplies you w/ the embed code (it is a bit robust) which allows users to customize it and use the generator anyway they see fit.

Top 10 Sites for Creating Word Clouds

"A text cloud or word cloud is a visualization of word frequency in a given text as a weighted list (wikipedia)." This is a concept that is utilized a lot in education for: visualization, brain storming, and mind mapping." While this can be done using paid applications such as Inspiration, there are a number of free sites that accomplish the same.

Top 10 Sites for Creating Word Clouds
  1. Wordle - Probably the oldest and most popular of the word cloud creators. Word clouds can then be edited w/ different fonts, colors, and layouts, and even shared w/ others online.

Twitter Sheep

Twitter Sheep is a fun site for Twitter users. The way this works is a user enters their user name in the Twitter Sheep text box and then watch as a word cloud gets generated from the bios of their followers. By looking at a person's "flock" one can get a general idea of what a person is all about.

Below is an example from my user name...

Tagexdo

Tagxedo is a new (beta) site for creating excellent looking word clouds. It reminds me very much of Tagul in where you can custom make your word clouds into anything you like. A really nice feature which I haven't seen before is the ability to even use words as custom "word cloud" shapes.

Below are samples of what you can do in Tagexdo...

Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo for the great site!!
