Cometdocs is as site I've covered in the past but recently received an email about some new features.  CD is a great free site for people to convert files in a wide variety of formats (up to 30).  Also, users can now store files online, share them w/ others (public/private) and transfer large files (more w/ a paid plan).

Yumpu is a excellent new free site for turning PDF's into stunning visual ebooks/digital magazines.  Best of all these e-documents are easy to read, user friendly, and can be shared via other social networks.

Veo Video Converter

Veo Video Converter is a nice site for converting any type of video.  While not originally in English you can switch the language and then select how you want to convert the video and to what type of device you want it for (ie, iOS).

ConvertDirect

ConvertDirect is an excellent site for converting FLV or YouTube videos into other formats. Also, a user can download YouTube videos direct to their desktop.

Switchr

Switchr is a nice free site for audio conversion. All a user has to do is upload their audio file, select what they want to convert it to, then enter their email address to get the finished product. One cool feature that you don't see all the time is the ability to convert an audio file into an iPhone ring tone.

Grab Tube

Grab Tube is a great site for downloading and converting video. This is especially to do w/ YouTube videos just by copying/pasting a URL. GT is also good for converting MP3 files.

PDF to Excel is a simple site to use to convert PDF's to a nice Excel (XLS) spreadsheet. Once the file is uploaded it will then be emailed to you when converted.

Miro Video Converter

Miro Video Converter is an excellent downloaded app (mac/win) for converting video to almost any format. It's especially nice for converter it to mobile devices such as: iphone, iPad, Android, etc.

Top 10 Sites for File Conversion

While most new computers can convert some file types (especially on a Mac), there are still a bunch that need help. This really seems to be the case when going cross platform from a Mac to PC. So, I decided to compile a list that contains a variety of different file conversion types.

1. Comet Docs - Easily one of the best visual sites for converting files that is very user friendly. Plus, has over 50 conversion options w/ the ability to do file analysis and comparison.
2. Zamzar - One of the most popular and easy to use conversion sites around.
3. DocsPal - A nice site for converting tons of different files, results are downloading via unique URL.
4. Vixy - A great way to convert/download videos onto a computer or mobile device.
5. YouConvertIt - Easy to use site for converting multiple files.
6. Cellsea - Converts video files of up to 25 MB in size.
7. OCR Terminal - Convert scanned images into usable data such as: TXT, RTF, or Doc.
8. Carryout Text - A great way to convert text to speech; nice for converting blogs, emails or documents.
9. HTML to PDF - Fast and easy to use, convert any web page into a PDF.

DocsPal

DocsPal is a new (beta) site for converting files. This is like any other site (Comet Docs) that does this kind of thing and very easy to use.

Crocodoc

Crocodoc is a site I just learned about from Larry Ferlazzo's wonderful blog. This is a place where people can upload their data and then have users collaborate on it via a unique URL. This is done by annotating/highlighting, etc.

File2.ws

File2.ws is a site I just learned about from Larry Ferlazzo's (I know I mention his name quite a bit, but he really is a valuable resource and great guy!!) incredible blog.

Simply put, File2.ws (say that ten times fast) is a site that converts your media (audio/video/photos) into a website w/ a click of a button. It is very easy to use and gives you a URL when the conversion is done so that you can share it w/ others.

My only complaint is that when I was trying to upload video it didn't work all the time. Actually, it only worked on one of my videos. The other videos I tried uploading gave me the following error...
