Lalilo is a new (beta) site for Reading/Literacy for grades K-2. This is done using an innovative online curriculum that not alone differentiates instruction but generates detailed reports as well. Squiggle Park is an excellent program/educational apps for grades PreK-2nd that focuses on Literacy and Reading skills. Readocity is a free educational app (Google/iOS) for helping students increase their joy of Reading. LitCharts is a neat site I just learned about from Richard Byrne's excellent blog. LitCharts is a free service for students that lets them type in a book to find out all relevant information pertains to that title, such as: background info, summary, detailed analysis, quotes, characters, and much much more. All information can be viewed online or downloaded as a PDF. Also, there is a innovative chart wheel which color-codes different themes in the story.
Level it Books is the excellent mobile app (iOS/Android) that people everywhere are using to scan a book and get a Reading/Lexile Level. Educators are using it to create a digital library of class books, as well as creating a class roster of students w/ their Read Level. Also, a user can add a book, select a "book of the day", and manually search for any book as well. If you're a parent, librarian, or educator this is the perfect app for you to find the appropriate type of reading material for your student/child.
