Waypoint EDU

Waypoint EDU is a innovative new iOS app that uses augmented reality to create a fun learning experience for students.  Teachers are using this tool to bring their classroom outside and have students go on geocaches (scavenger hunts) to learn more about a subject.  Best of all, a teacher can add questions to their geocache to create an authentic learning experience and gauge students understanding.

Edventure Builder

Edventure Builder is an innovative new site that is perfect for sparking student's creativity by providing a online platform for creating: scavenger hunts, interactive stories, or choose your own adventures.  Also, this is a fantastic tool that educators can use to build mobile lessons, interactive tours (think Back to School night or outside activities), and more.

The way this works is quite simple, from a browser a user can create an adventure (i.e., lesson, hunt, tour, etc) by adding text, images, video, and links.  Then by clicking a button it gets published to any browser based mobile device.  Best of all, are the different features that allows a user to fully customize their adventures and edit, save, and publish them easily.

I highly recommend checking out Edventure Builder by clicking here!!!

Xnote

Xnote is an innovative iOS app for geocaching that takes going on a scavenger hunt to a whole new level.  For educators that are used to doing QR Code scavenger hunt this will be very familiar as this app allows educators to create virtual messages (that includes text/image) that will only open when a user goes to the "correct" spot/location.  Talk about a fun way to integrate technology and outdoor activities!!!!

Here is more info from their promotional email...  "Teachers, parents and students can use Xnote to create and hide virtual messages outdoors at any GPS-location. Students can be sent on treasure hunts close to school or home to find hidden assignments with images, texts, links etc. A way for parents to use technology to take kids from indoor screen time to fun, healthy activities outdoors. It is as easy as sending an SMS/email.

Xnote teaches children to understand maps, navigation and spatial relations. Finding hidden assignments can teach communication, cooperation and the value of an active outdoor life. It is possible to link messages into tours and send treasure hunts to others using social media or by posting them on blogs or websites."
