Educators Corner

 Educators Corner is one of my new favorite places to find educational resources such as: links, videos, and ideas for using STEM in technology.  This is all done by two of my favorite educators Brad Waid and Michelle Moore.  These videos vary in length and are fun and easy watch where they cover topics such as: augmented reality, STEM activities, and more.

AR-kid: Space

AR-kid: Space is an excellent iOS app for kids ages 4 on up and uses augmented reality to teach about Space.  This is done through a robot named Cosmo who narrates through 4 different aspect of space: (i.e. rocket, orbit, moon, and solar system).  This is all done using augmented reality where a kid interacts w/ virtual rockets, moon landings, etc.

Aris

Aris is a free iOS app that is ideal for educators looking to create robust learning experiences or games.  Aris lets users create scavengers hunts, interactive stories, and location based games (i.e. Pokemon Go) using the latest tools.  Also, there are lots of online courses and a forum to help teachers learn how to integrate Aris into their classroom.

AR Flashcards Abraham Lincoln

AR Flashcards just released their latest iOS app, Abraham Lincoln.  This app uses augmented reality in an innovative way as it teaches students different facts and aspects about Abraham Lincoln.  The way this works is by placing portals on the actual ground by using the app and then walking through. This will unlock different places in Abraham Lincoln's past while teaching students about History.   Finally, a user can even watch an animated Abraham Lincoln give the Gettysburg Address.

Waypoint EDU

Waypoint EDU is a innovative new iOS app that uses augmented reality to create a fun learning experience for students.  Teachers are using this tool to bring their classroom outside and have students go on geocaches (scavenger hunts) to learn more about a subject.  Best of all, a teacher can add questions to their geocache to create an authentic learning experience and gauge students understanding.

Quiver Education

Quiver Education is a Augmented Reality experience for the classroom.  Quiver offers a free iOS app for download that users can then use w/ their mobile device to get a 3D augmented reality experience.  Quiver Education has created 3D educational coloring pages for download that include subjects such as: biology, geometry, and science.  Best of all, there is even a quiz that educators can use to test a student's knowledge.

AR Flashcards Addition

AR Flashcards Addition is the new innovative way for students to work on their addition skills on their mobile iOS devices.  The way this works is a user goes to the AR Flashcard website prints out the free flashcard, and then points their iOS device at the card to render beautiful 3D numbers and animals to form an equation.  A student can then solve the equation w/in the app and even take timed quizzes.

AR Flashcards Shapes and Colors is the brand-new educational augmented reality iOS app from Mitchlehan Media (i.e AR Flashcards Space).  Like AR Space, all a child has to do is point the iOS device at the printed flashcard to display a 3D rendered animal holding up a shape.  A user can then take a snapshot or even hear the shape by pressing on the sound button.  This is a great way to introduce shapes & colors to toddlers and preschoolers as well as an innovative way to integrate technology & augmented reality into the classroom.

Zookazam is one of my favorite free iOS apps for the Science classroom.  This innovative app has students interacting w/ animals, bugs, and more through Augmented Reality.  For example, all a user has to do is print out a target and then point their iOS device at it to watch as dinosaurs come to life in stunning 3D.  This is a great way to integrate technology into the classroom and WOW your students.

AR Flashcards Space is one of my favorite mobile (iOS/Android) apps for learning about Augmented Reality.  This interactive innovative app lets user print out flashcards about the solar system/planets and then interact w/ them in 3D and even hear interesting names about each one.  10 planetary objects are included or one can choose to view them all on one card.

ZooKazam is a wonderful free iOS app for Augmented Reality that can be used in the Science classroom.  This is a fun super easy to use app that has users printing out a "target" and then interacting w/ animals, dinosaurs, and safari animals in augmented reality.  What's cool is the ability to not only take a photo or video of the animal in augmented reality, but interact w/ it by changing the  elements (i.e. make it rain or snow) and more.

ZooKazam is a wonderful free iOS app for bringing zoo-life animals to life in beautiful augmented reality.  Educators are using this to "WOW" their students as they study and interact w/ bugs, animals, dinosaurs, and more!!!  All a user has to do is print out their "target' and point their iOS device to get started and enjoy using AR in the classroom or at home.  Watch as your children get amazed at growling T-Rexs, crawling spiders, and much much more.

Chromville

Chromville is a fantastic mobile app (Android/iOS) for using Augmented Reality to complete a fantasy adventure.  The way this works is by downloading the free app and then printing out the pages to color.  As a student colors one of the pages for the village they chose the characters come to life in 3D augmented reality via their mobile device.  This is a innovative way to integrate technology into the classroom and a lot of fun for the students.

AR Flashcards Space

AR Flashcards Space is the new free iOS app from the kings of augmented reality, Mitchlehan Media.  All a user has to do is print out the AR cards to start viewing the solar system in augmented reality.  This is a fun and great way to introduce this topic to students as well as being to interact w/ 3D objects by tapping on them to hear info about each planet.
