Book Builder

Book Builder is a nice free iOS app for Reading.  This app acts like a Choose Your Own Adventure style book where a picture book is read and then the user gets to decide between two different paths to take.  There are two story books to choose from w/ over 30 different endings and each story can be narrated as well.  As the narration is read it also highlights the words to help students w/ their Reading skills.

Modern Chalkboard

Modern Chalkboard is a wonderful free site for finding educational resources such as Smart Board files.  These interactive lessons cover a wide range of topics from Math, to Science, and Social Studies.  Right now this is a fairly new site and the majority of their resources are for
K-5th grade but more Smart Board resources are being added all the time.

Star Walk Kids

Star Walk Kids is a fantastic iOS app for teaching kids about Astronomy.  This is a super-fun interactive experience that lets users point their iOS device to the night's sky and then watch as stars/constellations get filled in.  These animations are done in an engaging cartoon style and narrated in an easy to understand explanation.  This is a great way for student's wanting to learn different facts about Outer Space and our solar system.

Bear & Bull: Stock Market Game

Bear & Bull is a fun online game that Alex P. Keeton would of loved.  It's a game based on the stock market and uses the same principals as Fantasy Football.  It allows a person to enter a "league" and play against their friends using real stocks but "fake" money.  It is a weekly contest (i.e. fantasy football) and pits a player's portfolio up against their friends.  Basically, it's a fun way to learn how to invest money, trade/sell stocks, and get the best return.

Book Writer

Book Writer is one of the most beautiful looking iOS apps around for project based learning and digital storytelling.  This simple to use drag-n-drop app, allows users to upload photos, add text/images/videos/music, and then record their narration.  A finished product can then be exported into iBooks or shared via Dropbox or Google Drive.  Finally, educators are even using this to flip a lesson.

Adjective Detective

The Adjective Detective is a fun online game I just found out about from Technology & Learning.  This game explains what an adjective is and provides a lot of interactive exercises siting examples.  Also, it has students being a detective and finding the adjectives (i.e. superlative and comparative) by highlighting them in a sentence w/ a magnifying glass.  Finally, there is a short quiz to help reinforce learning.
