NowComment

NowComment is an interesting online tool for annotating that I just found out about from Richard Byrne's excellent blog.  NowComment looks to be a handy feature for teachers as it lets educators comment on any part of a document including: text, images, videos, and more.  It can be used to assess a student's learning, to create a backchannel for group projects, and more.

Fiskkit

Fiskkit is a new (beta) site for collaborating on news articles/sites that I found out about from Larry Ferlazzo's blog.  All a user has to do is copy/paste a URL into the Fiskkit system and then they can tag, rate, or comment on the information in the article.  This is a great way to facilitate discussion and have student's back up their arguments through comments.

Owl Eyes is an innovative site that lets teachers create "classrooms" where their students can read and interact w/ texts.  Student's are able to select through a wide variety of literature and then annotate the text.  This is helpful as they can take notes and pickup right where they left off when reading.  Best of all, the teacher tools allows educators to create quizzes to assess how students are doing and they can even track/manage their student accounts.  Educators are using Owl Eyes in a number of different ways such as: differentiating instruction or flipping a classroom.

Stick Around

Stick Around is the highly anticipated iPad app from Tony Vincent that I just had the pleasure of trying out.  This is an excellent app for teachers to create puzzles, diagrams, quizzes, annotating, and more.  SA interface is perfect for education as it allows educators/students to choose from projects or puzzles and then label objects.  These game be used for a wide variety of educational topics such as: labeling parts of a plant, water cycle, cell, etc etc.  Also, users can create them from scratch by drawing or uploading their own picture.  Best of all a person can add audio recordings which can be
used by students to create digital notes or by teachers for Guided Learning.

Annotary

Annotary is a nice site for bookmarking websites, annotating on them, and then sharing w/ others.  This is all done through a very user friendly interface and allows users to browse other's collections as well.
