Bouncy Balls

Bouncy Balls is a neat little site I just found out about from the great blog, Teachbytes.  This is a fun site that uses the computer's microphone to monitor sound levels.  The greater the sound the more the balls bounce around the screen.  This could be a great and fun visual way to monitor classroom noise levels and show students that they are being to loud.

ClassDojo the widely popular communication and behavioral reinforcement tool for educators, has just released their latest project, Big Ideas for the Classroom.

From their press release...

"Today ClassDojo and Stanford's University Project for Education Research That Scales (PERTS) announced a partnership to help millions of students learn about 'growth mindset' in their classrooms.  As part of this partnership, ClassDojo developed a five-part series of animated videos that will be available free to all teachers.  It is the first in ClassDojo's "Big Ideas' series, where ClassDojo will bring cutting-edge research into the classroom -- with characters that students know and love.

Below is their first video on Growth Mindset...

Otus

"Otus is an easy-to-use, yet powerful classroom tool that brings the best iPad and Chromebook education features together into one secure environment, and uses a single Google login."

I must say after reading this tag line I was quite intrigued to give Otus a look and it IS a complete mobile learning environment for schools.  Otus comes in two free iPad apps one for the teacher and one for the student.  Also, a user (teacher/student) will need a Google account to login.  There is also a web login that allows Otus to be used on any device here.

As w/ most Learning Management Systems (LMS) Otus allows educators to create classes, manage attendance/assignments/grades, poll students, blog, and more.  They can create digital bookshelves to host all kinds of digital media (i.e. books, videos, sites, etc) and assess students in real-time.  The split screen feature allows users to take notes using any feature of Otus as well as taking notes during browsing.

I highly recommend checking out Otus by clicking here!!!

Now for any browser based mobile device!!!!

Skaffl

Skaffl is a nice new (free) iPad app that I just found out about from iPad Apps for Schools.  This app lets teacher hand out assignments and then collect them.  Once an assignment has been "handed" in the teacher can then grade and assess students, as well as annotate and ask questions about their assignment,

Chronicle

Chronicle is a innovative new iPad that is ideal for classroom management, grading, assessing, note-taking, and so much more.  It is a educational tool that educators are using for harnessing their teaching best practice methodologies.  It is designed for educators to "Chronicle" each student through detailed and easy to use data by allowing educators to add multimedia (i.e. audio, video, images, etc.) content to each student's progress.  Teachers can customize notes and audio clips to each student, and assess students in real-time using a visual "traffic-light" design.  Also, it allows educators to integrate Common Core Standards and act as a grade book w/ an abundance of export features.

GoClass

GoClass is a amazing web tool/app for creating lessons that can done on mobile devices.  This is all done through an innovative user interface where educators use the web to create their students/class/courses and then have students complete them on their mobile devices.  Best of all, the teacher creates all the content, student accounts, and then has the option to "lock" down the device while they are presenting a lesson to them and "unlock" them for assignments to be completed.  Finally, educators can then assess students work and in real-time while archiving and generating reports.
