Curriculet

Curriculet is an innovative new site that reminds me of EDpuzzle but for books.  This site allows educators to purchase any digital book and turn it into a lesson.  The way this works is an educator selects a book and then adds different types of media (i.e. questions, quiz, video) to create a lesson for students.  Once the lesson is completed a teacher gets instant real-time feedback to assess student's learning.  This is also a great way for educators to track Common Core Literacy Standards and "flip" their classroom.

I highly recommend checking out Curriculet by clicking here!!!

Edbok

Edbok stands for Educational Digital Books & Online Knowledge.  This is a great site for finding digital books on a wide variety of topics as well other things.  This is a relatively new site, so there are not a lot of books to choose from.

I recommend checking out Edbok by clicking here.

Widbook

Widbook is a new (beta) site that I just found out about from Free Technology 4 Teachers.  This is a wonderful site for creating digital multimedia books that can contain, text, images, and videos.  These books are can then be commented and shared w/ others.  Also, a user can collaborate w/ others online and take part in creating books together.

Flip Snack

Flip Snack is a new (beta) site that I just found out about from the amazing, iLearn Technology. Flip Snack is a very nice looking site that reminds me a lot of Bookrix or Mixbook. All a user has to do is upload a PDF and then choose options on how they want their flipbook created. Once the book is created it can then be shared on your favorite social network or embedded into a site. The book can also be downloaded. The only other feature I'd to see is the ability to order a hard copy of your book like you can do on Mixbook.

I highly recommend checking out Flip Snack a try by clicking here.

Story Jumper

Story Jumper is an excellent new site for creating either online stories or actual hard cover copies of your book. The user interface is very simple to use and it reminds me a lot of My Story Maker. All a person has to do is select a scene (blank if you don't want to use a template) add their characters, objects, text and then publish their book.

If a person would like to get a copy of their book they can do that too starting at $24.99.

I highly recommend checking out Story Jumper by clicking here.

BookRix

BookRix is a new site that allows a user to create a "digital" book. I can potentially see this being used by students, but educators must be aware that there is no filtering going on (even though there is a strict guideline policy).

I must say that I'm really impressed w/ what you can do on BR. Not only can you upload your book, you can create one from scratch right on their site. Also, there is a nice feature that allows you to create a cover w/ their stock photos or upload your own.

Finally, as any "web 2.0" application you have the ability to post your book online for others to read and provide comments. This is the one area that I feel can be fine tuned. I'd like to see the ability to monitor comments before they get posted. Here, you can only to them on or off. Also, I'd like this site to a bit faster if possible, but I think there is a lot of flash involved which does hinder the load times.

Give BookRix a try by clicking here or read my Blog Companion (now in book format) on there by clicking here.
