Arludo

Arludo is an excellent site to create/find educational games and more.  Arludo, is a great learning tool that is ideal for teaching Math or Science w/ lots of features for educators such as: generating detail reports, tools to differentiate instruction, and integrating game based learning into the classroom.  Arludo has a nice collection of games that focuses on Math/Science areas like: evolution, ecosystems, molecules, and more.

Adventure Academy

Adventure Academy is a dynamic and super fun online platform that uses a MMO game based learning style to teach subjects such as: Math, Science, Language Arts, and more.  Adventure Academy was designed for students 8-13 years old and uses a wide variety of games, interactive graphic novels, and video tutorials to help students learn a wide range of subjects/topics (i.e. comprehension, fractions, geography, etc.).

MathScienceMusic.org

MathScienceMusic.org is a innovative site that I just found out about from renowned educator, Shelly Terrell.  This is a fantastic site for educators looking to teach STEM concepts such as: Coding, Math, and More, all through the use of music and other resources.  This is done by watching videos to see how these concepts are taught and what resources are being used w/ them (i.e. Scratch).  This site was designed for grade K-12.

Blue Apprentice

Blue Apprentice is an innovative new iOS/Web game designed to help students 6-12 yrs old learn Science.  Blue Apprentice takes kids on an intergalactic adventure that has them learning about different Science concepts such as: periodic table, energy, space, ecosystems, and much much more.  Also, Blue Apprentice is aligned to state standard and mets COPPA compliance making it safe for kids.  Best of all, BA tracks students progress, has lots of features/levels to unlock, and has high replay value.

Quiz Hero

Quiz Hero is one of my favorite new free mobile (iOS/Android) apps for Game Based Learning.  This amazing app uses an RPG style (i.e Bards Tale anyone ;-) to help students learn a wide variety of subjects, such as Math, Vocabulary, Science, etc.  The game follows a familiar RPG formula where users select a class (i.e. mage, warrior, archer) and then begin a fun filled educational quest.  There is a ton of interaction w/ other characters, an easy walkthrough for beginners, the ability to buy/sell/craft items, and much much more.  As users level up they unlock more features, problems get harder, and more of the quest and areas are revealed.

How to Make Electricity

How to Make Electricity is a super fun educational iOS app that teaches kids the principals of making electricity.  It does this through easy to understand animations and a virtual lab that lets students experiment using a variety of plug-n-play items (i.e. potato, lightbulb, fan, etc).  How to Make Electricity has 4 lab sections that focuses on: solar, chemical, hydro, and thermal.  Best of all there is a parents guide and even a "science" view that allows students to view electrons at a molecular level.

ProjectWriter for Science

ProjectWriter is an excellent learning tool that is ideal for teaching and reinforce learning for a wide variety of subjects.  Recently, BoomWriter the creators of ProjectWriter released their Science page which shows how PW can be used to create innovative collaborative writing projects or textbooks to build vocabulary and knowledge of the given subject.  Also, the flexibility allows educators to use for  a single project or incorporate into a whole field of studying.

Explain 3D

Explain 3D is an innovative iOS/Android app for interactive simulations that will be available for free this weekend.  There are 18 simulations that cover a wide range of topics from electronics to machines and more.  Users can control, zoom in/out, etc while they learn how different operations work (i.e solar system, car parts, elevator, etc.).

Zookazam

Zookazam is one of my favorite free iOS apps for the Science classroom.  This innovative app has students interacting w/ animals, bugs, and more through Augmented Reality.  For example, all a user has to do is print out a target and then point their iOS device at it to watch as dinosaurs come to life in stunning 3D.  This is a great way to integrate technology into the classroom and WOW your students.

AR Flashcards Space

AR Flashcards Space is one of my favorite mobile (iOS/Android) apps for learning about Augmented Reality.  This interactive innovative app lets user print out flashcards about the solar system/planets and then interact w/ them in 3D and even hear interesting names about each one.  10 planetary objects are included or one can choose to view them all on one card.

Thinkrolls

Thinkrolls is a super fun and unique educational mobile app (iOS/Android) designed for kids 3-8 yrs old.  This app helps students develop cognitive thinking and spatial ability by rolling a ball through a maze while trying to solve puzzles and collect O's.  This game is divided up by chapter and as a student progresses the game will get more complex as skills build upon each other in different areas of a Science such as: gravity, speed, friction, etc.

Science Bits

Science Bits is a nice Science curriculum for MS/HS aged students.  This site has a wide variety of multimedia actives, simulations, videos, and more as students learn about areas/concepts of Science.  It has a wide variety of lessons for educators to choose from as well as lots of interactive resources.

ZooKazam

ZooKazam is a wonderful free iOS app for Augmented Reality that can be used in the Science classroom.  This is a fun super easy to use app that has users printing out a "target" and then interacting w/ animals, dinosaurs, and safari animals in augmented reality.  What's cool is the ability to not only take a photo or video of the animal in augmented reality, but interact w/ it by changing the  elements (i.e. make it rain or snow) and more.

Science Heroes

Science Heroes: Digestive System for Kids is an excellent free educational Science app by Yogome.  Yogome is a company known for their educational iOS games from subjects from Math and Science to Recycling.  Also, their games feature their popular characters known as the Yogotars in fun filled cartoony world.

Science Heroes is more of the same w/ excellent graphics and high replay value as students try to defeat 5 bosses in over 15 levels/missions of fun, while learning about the different areas of the Digestive System (i.e. Mouth, Esphagus, Stomach, etc.).

Sight Words Space

Sight Words Space is a (free today) iPad app designed for KDG/1st graders learning how to read and working on Science vocabulary words.  The app is an interactive workbook that has students tracing words, listening to words, and playing fun interactive activities to help reinforce reading and word recognition.  Also, students will be learning about Space, counting stars, and more.
