Sped Sheets

Sped Sheets is a site I just found out about that is ideal for Special Education teachers.  Sped Sheets is a free resource (i.e. direct instruction, chunking, and graphic organizers) where educators can find worksheets on wide number of topics, audio files, and more. Best of all, this is a great time saver for
teachers.

Voice Dream

Voice Dream is the best iOS app for text to speech that I have ever seen.  Not only is it simple to use w/ very familiar hand gestures (i.e. pinch, swipe, tap, etc), it allows users an abundance of options to interact w/ their text, such as: highlighting, definitions, adding words to a dictionary, bookmarking, and more.  Also, there are over 36 VoiceOvers in all languages as well as listening to all kinds of documents (i.e. PDFs, Word, PPT, RTF, Pages, etc.).

Some of my favorite features is the ability to listen to words while they are highlighted in sync, take notes in split screen mode, and multiple hand gestures.  Also, Voice Dream is ideal for Special Ed or those w/ reading struggles as a user can use the Focused Reading Mode or adjust the font size to help facilitate learning and make reading easier.  Best of all, is the ability to listen and read texts by the push of a button.  It kind of reminds me of the way a person listens to a song or watches a movie w/ the ability to pause, rewind, etc. etc.

Speech Therapy for Apraxia - Words

Speech Therapy for Apraxia is a Special Ed iPad app for helping children/adults w/ speech problems such as Apraxia.  This is a beautifully designed easy to use app which is to be used w/ Parents and Speech Therapist to help children develop their speech.  This is done by selecting different word groups and patterns and listening to the words and sounding them out.  As a user proceeds they progress through 9 different levels motor/speech articulation or they can choose what level they want to work.  Best of all their is progress tracking w/ detailed instructions on how best to use this app.

Spokenlayer

Spokenlayer is a free iOS app for an iPhone which turns any text/article into audio.  This is ideal for those that like to multi-task and listen to one thing while doing another.  I can also see this being used in Spec Ed classes or ELL/ESL classes for those that have trouble reading/seeing.

Vocalyze

Vocalyze is a site I just found out about from Free Technology 4 Teachers. This is a great site for having web content read to you. This is ideal for those that like to multi-task and don't have time to read news on the web, or for those who may be visually impaired and can't read the way themselves.
