FluencyFinder
is one of my favorite iOS apps for educators. This easy-to-use app is ideal for
assessing students’ reading fluency rate for grades 1st-8th. All a teacher has
to do is download the app and start adding students. Once this is done, they go
to the website (http://www.fluencyfinder.com/), choose a reading passage
(currently 6 passages per grade level), and print it out. When the student is
ready, the teacher hits “Start”. As the student reads, the teacher can easily
track and assess their reading fluency by tapping a button as errors occur.
After the student is finished, the teacher hits “Stop” and immediately receives
instant, real-time results.
Also, the creators of FluencyFinder are continually adding improvements to this already fantastic product and will soon launch comprehension questions to accompany the reading passages. Teachers will be able to assess not only students’ reading fluency rate but their comprehension of the passages as well. Another nice feature coming soon is the addition of an export function, which will allow teachers the ability to share students’ results/data with the tap of a button, likely via email. And new additional passages, including excerpts from children’s literary classics, will be added this spring.
I highly recommend checking out FluencyFinder by clicking here!!!
