I was lucky enough to receive a Osmo a few weeks ago for review purposes and am throughly impressed w/ what I've seen. My children (9,7,5, and 3 yr old) are having a blast playing w/ all the different games/apps available for the Osmo. The Osmo itself consists of a plastic reflector that snaps over the iPad camera and a base for holding the iPad in place vertically. The camera then sees what is in front of the iPad by being reflected from the mirror and works rather seamlessly. There are 3 apps available: Tangram, Newton, and Words. All of them are highly educational and very easy to use.
- Tangram - kids will arrange puzzle pieces that come w/ the Osmo to make shapes and learn about the different principals of the Tangram.
- Newton - probably my favorite of the apps, and lets kids use their creativity to draw lines/shapes etc to guide bouncing balls into a target.
- Words - a fun multiple player game that really helps students learn how to spell by placing the correct letter in front of the iPad
Below is a brief demo...
I highly recommend checking out the Osmo by clicking
