Avatar Maker

Avatar Maker is a fun site for making simple avatars.  A user has a lot of different options to choose from for editing their avatar such as: colors, mouths, eyes, hair, accessories, and more.  Finally, a finished avatar can then be downloaded to a computer.

I highly recommend checking out Avatar Maker by clicking here!!!

Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo's blog for the tip.

Build your Wild Self

Build your Wild Self is a fun avatar creator that I just had to share.  Kids should get a kick out of all the different types of animal parts they can add to their character.  A nice touch is some of the animations and audio, and the ability to change the background.

I recommend checking out Build your Wild Self by clicking here.

Voki

Voki is an avatar that I've used on and off for over 2 yrs, but thanks to Larry Ferlazzo I decided to revisit their site upon learning of some educational features. Voki has just released an educational instance for use of their vokis which removes all of that annoying advertising on their avatar.

Voki's are a really nice way to integrate technology into almost any subject and I highly recommend checking out their site by clicking here!!!

Grabba Beast

Grabba Beast is a fun site for the youngsters to create a silly looking monster. It is just like any avatar creator.

This is what I would look like if I was a viking ;-)

Give Grabba Beast a try by clicking here.

Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo for the heads up.

Loogix

Loogix is a site I first heard about from one of my friends on Plurk (just wish I could remember who to give the proper credit 8-) that is designed to create animated avatars. It is very easy, just upload a picture, select the size and effect you want, and click generate. That's it. From there you can get an embed code, or post directly to site/blog or other social networking platforms.

Below is my radial blur example....

Alpoy

Alpoy is a new (beta) online avatar creator. There are a bunch of these type of sites out there, however I really don't have much to reference it, as I like to create my avatars from scratch. That being said, this is a easy/fun site to use.

To get started, just register an account, upload an image, and then have fun w/ the basic edit tools such as text, draw, or shapes. Once that is done, you can save/download the image, or even animate it w/ some basic scripting.

Here is a pic of the avatar editing screen...
